Why you Must increase your marketability
This is
important if you are learning Photoshop for the ultimate
purpose of getting paid for your Photoshop skill.
Although
you may be in Photoshop for the creative satisfaction
and
fulfillment, you don't want to be the 'starving' artist
(do you?)
You have the right to get paid for your
skills because Photoshop
proficiency
is a tangible asset that is in demand by those who
would hire
you. However, you will have to learn some business
skills as
well because proficiency alone doesn't guarantee you
income.
I can't
guarantee you income either, but I can advise you on
that
but it will
be up to you to actually 'do the work' (albeit the work
will be
easier and you'll have the competitive edge).
Most likely people aren't going to break down the doors
to rush
to you and hire you right off the bat...it's going to
take some
effort on your part to push everything in your favor
towards
getting work (either job or freelance/projects).
You really
want to be equipped and to have the knowledge of a
professional grade education that you can APPLY.
It will take some
proper
training and effort on your part but the results are
worth it.
Of course I
can offer you Photoshop proficiency itself on a platter
IF you take
and apply the training which I can give you.
No one said
mastering Photoshop was easy otherwise everyone
would do
it, but you CAN arm yourself with the best possible
knowledge and leverage that you can in one place to get
you
to where
you need to be quicker.
A fast paced work environment will often have high
demands
on you and
your Photoshop knowledge and ability to work with
it had
better be at a very good level of application.
So how do they know how good you are? Well, as a graphic
designer or
desktop publisher specializing in Photoshop, they'll
want to see
your portfolio.
Your portfolio is one of the most important things you
can work
on because
it displays your skill level that went into that
project.
I highly recommend building ultimately a diverse
portfolio. This
will
showcase to prospective employers or clients that you
can
get a
variety of tasks done and that one extra task that you
can do
might be the hook that they are looking for.
After you
have a good Photoshop proficiency, try to focus first
on one or
two areas that are your favorite to get things going so
you're not too distracted.
Get really
good at, say web template design, retouching photos,
etc. and
then you can move on from their with further specialized
training
programs.
To be able
to create graphics in the visual realm to be seen by
an
unlimited number of people is really a great feeling.
The more
work that
you do and 'give' to the world, the better things will
feel for
you...more personal fulfillment and job requirements =
income.
If you want
to earn an income from Photoshop, you must be
equipped to
provide value and professional quality results and
service to
whoever would hire you.
I know that
many people in India and even Malaysia are in the
marketplace competing for work. With the advantage of
the
internet,
you can now telecommute from anywhere in the world
and earn an
income for your services.
Just remember that having your Photoshop and other
software
skills at
the maximum level (and growing) you can push the limits
of your
creativity 'applied' as well as compete in the
competitive
jobs or
projects market.
So make
sure you get yourself a foundational education in
Photoshop CS/CS2 and then continue educating yourself
beyond that with many of the marketwide resources that
are out there (that I cover in my complete 'Photoshop
Power' resource).
And if
you're someone that's REALLY going to make it happen
and
freelance or get a high paying position you're going to
want
to go
beyond the norm or accepted standard.
You will
have to market and position yourself naturally 'ahead
of'
your
competition and know a bit about the business angle as
well
as the
technical and creative Photoshop angles.
You should try to seek out unique training solutions
that will give
you an edge
above your competition as well and that will make
prospective
employers get their mouths watering to hire YOU.
By having
both the Photoshop grounding AND knowing how to
market
yourself to get jobs and projects as easily as possible
(or
get the
perfect job position you want) you're going to have to
have the
right preparation.
Remember
that before you can market your services (or just
plain get
to a point of professional Photoshop usage) you're going
to have to
get the foundational grounding; the A to Z of knowing
and
applying Photoshop to get the results that you and
prospective
clients or
hirers would desire.
And I tell
you, once you get the foundation of Photoshop handled,
you'll have the knowledge that will start opening up
your creative
mind like
never before to what you can do (and this can happen
during the
learning process).
So when can
you reach the point of being able to create your ideal
visual
results and when can you BE at a point of being able to
market
your
services for cash income by doing what you love to do
the
most?
Find out on the next page.
When you can expect to realistically
achieve your ultimate Photoshop ambitions?>>
